21st Century Learning/Ako Ināianei Tonu

  • Formative assessment must be part of any conversation when discussing transforming 21st-century instruction. Scott, 2015

Good assessment is frequent assessment. It can be too easy to over-react and “remediate” students who may be banging against the limits of the assessment’s design rather than their own understanding. Rather than re-teaching, sometimes all that is necessary is re-measuring.

Teachtaught have put out 10 assessments you can do in 90 seconds.

Te Ao Māori – Māori Movement Exercise Resource

This week we discovered a great online resource for both tamariki and kaiako to get moving and learn many of the movements found in kapa haka as a form of exercise called Māori Movement.

It’s a whole website jam packed with video content that takes users through 6.5min workout sessions that align with te ao Māori. It’s a great form of fitness and helps to train you body to be able to do the trickier movements and footwork found in kapa haka and to learn about the atua Māori.

Each set of workouts are leveled so you can participate in the programme no matter how fit, skilled or agile you are. Karawhuia! Give it a go!
