Lead Principals
Hi all, I am Gillian Bray, current Principal of Wainui School and co leader of Kāhui Ako ki Orewa.
I have been the Principal at Wainui School for 12 years and I still love it!!!!
Wainui school is still classed as a rural school, but has all the conveniences of being so close to an urban area and the city! Our motto is “Small enough to nurture dreams… big enough to realise them, He iti noa hei whakapoipoi moemoea.. He nui noa hei whakaea ai”.
Wainui School’s goals focus on the learner at the center, quality teaching and leadership, connecting to the people and connecting to the place!!! We have one of the most beautiful environments to learn and play in with bush, a stream, gardens and peace!
The Kāhui Ako leadership role is one that enables me as a leader to connect and to develop our four focus area goals collaboratively with our teachers, across the 8 Orewa schools, in that leading to better outcomes for our tamariki. Our four goals of Te ao Māori, Haoura, Future Ready and focussing on the Curriculum Refresh continue to be very relevant to all of us as educational teachers and leaders.
Having time to develop connections, improve our practice and finding ways of working together, is such a privilege. I honestly believe that in working together we can achieve great things!!!!
